Hello, my name is JaiDel Ervin. I am 8 years old, I’m in third grade and I weigh 258lbs. During the summer of 2010 I played baseball for the first time in the KCK RBI program. It was awesome. On fathers day the Kansas City Star wrote a story on the baseball program and my picture was in the paper. My teacher gave me a copy so I could take it home and show my mom and dad. My classmates treated me like a celebrity and it felt good to have some new friends for at least a day. My coach told my mom about Dexter Pittman and his weight loss and what he went through so now he is my new favorite player. I am now a part of the Get Fit with Big Pitt health initiative and my goal is to try to lose at least 45lbs by baseball next year (May 2011).

My workout when I am at home (from JaiDel’s mother)
Morning Workout
JaiDel has been working out around 6:45am everyday. He will do Extreme Fit, which is a plug and play mat, comprised of a mixture of 80 exercises and games. All of them are geared toward active movement with your body.
He will do the dance step section of the game, in which he steps on arrows on the mat, as they appear on the TV screen. The arrows go up, down, left, and right. He does that for 10 minutes or more. He will also do the track and field section, which consists of him running in a set place on the mat, to make his player run, jump over hurdles, throw a discus or a javelin.
When he does Extreme Fit, I am downstairs working out with a Hip Hop Abs or Rockin' Body workout DVD. Some days we will do Just Dance for the Nintendo Wii, and we do the challenge part of the game. You have to do the exact dance move as the dancer on the TV screen to get points. The thing I love most about this game is, it moves every part of your body, and you are guaranteed to sweat.
Together, we do wall push-ups, which we started with 10, and will now do 20, in reps of 2's. We do jumping jacks, which we started with just 10, and will now begin 2 reps of 20. JaiDel runs up six steps, which he started with 10, and now does 20, with no rest. He also does sit-ups, in which the number varies but is not less than 10.
*We have just added hi-knees, where we hold our hands out to a certain length, and then raise our knees up to our hands. We will do 2 reps of 20.
Evening Workout
Our evening workouts are usually at 5pm. Before the cold, we were going to JaiDel's school, and walk and/or jog around his playground. Then we would shoot baskets in the basketball goal. JaiDel would usually come up with "point games" for us to play. The games would consist of whoever makes a certain amount of baskets first, wins. We would also do chest passes with the basketball or one bounce passes. With it being cold, we only do Just Dance, or play Wii Sports for an hour or more.
The workouts are only supposed to be a minimum of 20 minutes in the morning and in the evening. I have found that we are usually doing them 45 minutes, to an hour or more. I try to make it fun for both of us, and I encourage JaiDel every step of the way.
* stretch
* run 10 sprints
* 10 down and backs walking and dribbling
* shoots baskets until he makes enough to spell Dexter Pittman or Get Fit with Big Pitt
* 4 sets of 45’s. JaiDel dribbles the ball 45 times and counts to work on his math.
* run 10 sprints
* walk 3 cool down laps
* buzzer beater shot
* weigh in
* open shooting/games with family
A Message From JaiDel's Mother:
I asked JaiDel how he feels about the Get Fit with Big Pitt Program, and he said "it's fun, cool and awesome! I get to play with Coach Cle, and have fun with Mama. And it's cool that I am losing weight". What I like about the program, is Coach Cle took an immediate liking to JaiDel, and has become a positive figure to him. He has been very encouraging and supportive of JaiDel since he played baseball for the KCK RBI. This program is helping JaiDel not just lose weight, he is having fun while doing it, and is proud of his accomplishments. I think this program will do a lot for his confidence, and also for other children with weight control issues. I totally support my son, Coach Cle and his efforts, and Dexter Pittman for a program with results. I am looking forward to what lies ahead for JaiDel and the Get Fit with Big Pitt Program.
